An old Simpsons may be tiresome, but it's still better than half the NEW s*** that gets on TV!

True, I'll have to update that. In fact I've grown tired of The Simpsons all together. I just don't find it funny anymore...

Wash your mouth out with soap and water!
Well, don;t if thats your opinion.
I have a very special link with the Simpsons you see.
They saved my life once.
Long story!

*washes mouth out* Sorry, but I believe I'm entitled to my own opinion. How exactly did the simpsons save your life (I myself have lost many hours of my life to that programme)?
I think Matt should think more about storylines: The new ones are terrible, and the old ones are tiring but the ones in between are fantastic.

(nods in agreement)
I DID say you were entitled to your own opinion so don't get finnicky and I guess you're right about the new ones, they seem sillier.

Sorry, I promise I won't get so finnicky next time
I don't think they're as witty now, which is a shame because they used to have me in stitches. It's more bottom humour nowadays, which is good in small doses but doesn't do anything for me in the long run.
Methinks the writers need more new material..

Yeah-Simpsons saved my life because...
It was when my fiance had dumped me and I was stuck in a town I hated with no friends and the one thing that kept me happy and laughing was Simpsons, without them I'd have been hanging from a tree!

I would hug you but I'm not a touchy feely type of person, you'll have to settle for an affectionate pat on the back instead
It's a great show for cheering people up. I know that...

Thanks!
I'm much better now, this was a while ago.

But still, must have been hell for you.

Sure was.
It lasted about six months and then I cleaned myself up. I was drinking too much and getting heavily into drugs and stuff.
Dark Days, but things turn round.
I guess I learnt a lot of self-reliance from it, took me a while to trust anyone though.

I can imagine. Actually I can't, I've never experienced anything like it and if that had been me, I'd probably still be wallowing in self pity. But then again I'm weak, you're obviously not. Must have taken a lot of will power to get on with things even if it wasn't right away...

I got angry, then I got bitter, then I got pathetic and then one day, the pain just wasn't there.
Now I look back, I'm glad I didn't marry her. I can't imagine what it would be like to be married, especially at this point of my life when things are going good. I'm leaving the country next month for an opportunity that I certainly wouldn't have been able to persue had I been married.

Well good for you. I suppose when you look at it, things always work out for the best (when people tell me that, I tell them to f***k off)
Marriage is a ball and chain, so consider yourself extremely lucky. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about the opposite sex for a long time yet
I wish you the best of luck for next month (and the rest of your life)
I'm nosey, where are you going?

aonemantidalwave Posted Aug 9, 2002
Well, I'm off to Sri Lanka to become a journalist.
It's only a 3 month contract but I may get to stay out there longer.
Either way, I'll have a portfolio of work when I get back...and a kicka** tan!

I'm extremely jealous. I have another 2 years of school before I could even consider doing anything remotely like that.. ahh well.

aonemantidalwave Posted Aug 9, 2002
Well, I've been to film school and then had two years out in the real world, and I'm only just getting round to that kind of thing now!

At least you're getting round to it and not just giving up. You're making somthing of your life, so what if it got off to a bad start at least you're not sitting there collecting dust..

Good point, a mate of mine (who I no longer speak to) used to be the same as me, really in to film, he wanted to make monsters and s*** for the Sta Winston Workshop (the chap who does The Terminator and stuff), these days he just sits in his room smoking bargain basement resin and getting fat and stupid watching old wrestling videos.
There but for the grace of a God I don't believe in go I!

You're doing a really bad job of making the film industry sound appealing...
How can he do that and not die of sheer boredom? Ah yes, he has his wrestling.. I couldn't stand that sort of life, I need mental stimulation not wrestling!
