A couple of comments

Doesn't the bluethroats link at the beginning of the Entry sort of make the entry 'redundant' (sorry, can't think of a better word) in that it has similar content to the Entry. Readers can easily find the bluethroat page via the RSPB link.

Footnote 4, fledge doesn't mean to leave the nest. I wasn't sure myself exactly what it meant, though thought it was something to do with feathers/plumage so checked dictionary. Fledge means - To grow the plumage necessary for flight.

Yes, I know what you mean about the bluethroats link. I thought that myself when I put it in. The reason I put it in was that it was odd to have a link to the RSPB page on nightingales and not the one on bluethroats - you can look and see what a nightingale is like, but we have no link to a picture of a bluethroat. I wondered about finding just a picture of a bluethroat to link to there, but can't seem to find one that isn't a copyrighted website.

As you say, you can find the bluethroat page via the RSPB link, but you can also find the nightingale that way... What do you think?

Re. fledge, yes, I looked it up in the dictionary too and it does say about plumage, but I thought it was more accessible to say 'to leave the nest' as the two things happen at the same time. Actually, after writing that I realise that with some birds eg. seabirds it doesn't. So I'll change that bit.

Ah, I see your reason for the link; nice to see what you are reading about.

Tricky, you could use the UK News link that shows a piccy, but then that link would be 'lost' from under the news heading. I didn't get all the info. from that one page, so I guess that will be ok, unless you can move it down a paragraph or two, or is it EG standard to link on first one.

Unless it gets picked to have a blob by h2g2s artists, then it'll show what it looks like, but that'll be too late for you.

Do whatever you think best.

Sorry for delay in replying, have been ill (first a cold, then knackered neck) for a few days.

What I decided to do in the end was remove the bluethroat link at the beginning, as I agree it kind of negates the point of the entry. Instead, I inserted a link to the RSPB page on bluethroats (to go with the one on the nightingale) into the References panel on the right-hand side. Ideally, of course, it will get a blob too, but as you say we won't know that until it's on the Front Page.

I've sent this back to the editors now, so let's look forward to seeing it on the Front Page soon!
