Hello,
Friendly neighbourhood sub-editor dropping in to say that I've been assigned your Common Lizard entry and will do my best to be kind and gentle to it, and will certainly not cause it to run off leaving its tail in my hand.
I'll give you a shout if I do anything remotely major to it.

Hi, Just seen your note to the sub-ed. I have had a read-through of the entry, and fixed a few very minor grammar thingies and one typo. There is one sentence which reads a little awkwardly:
"Once born, and able to feed from birth, they separate and fend for themselves, as the mother shows no parental care."
I know exactly what you mean, but the placement of "and able to feed from birth" feels a bit odd. It might just be me, though! I shall muse upon that sentence, have a look for any more potential h2g2 links, and then it should be finished. I will come back and holler before I send it back to the editors.
Very interesting entry. I've never seen common lizards in the wild, though I have encountered slow worms a few times. Fascinating creatures!

...and now I think I'm done. Would you like to give the entry a look before I send it back to the towers? It really didn't need much work at all.

It looks great, Thank You David I wasn't sure if you would be able to leave in the picture of the lizards, I'm gald that was ok to left in.
I have seen, and caught wild lizards, but not for many years. Last year I saw a baby slow worm, about 3-4 inches long, it was the smallest slow worm I have ever seen, it moved very quick too.

Oh, *that* picture! As far as I'm aware, piccies on external links are absolutely fien - if not, I'm sure the eds will take it out.
I shall send this back to them now.

they've removed the picture link
Maybe they're planning to add a picture/blob when it gets to FP either way, I can easily post a link to the picture I had in a thread at the bottom.

Yes, sorry. A message about photos in personal galleries went out to the subs this morning. And this photo was in a personal gallery, so it had to go bye-bye.
