rains not so bad you should be used to it in this part of the world

Woodpigeon Posted May 6, 2003
True - *should be* but in reality we *never are* ! Irish people hate rain. That's why pubs are such a hit in this country!
I'm getting to be a real outdoor enthusiast though. I love being outside, even when the weather is fairly crap. My job means that I am stuck in front of a VDU for most hours during a week, so any chance to get some fresh air, and I will take it straight away.

Woodpigeon Posted May 14, 2003
Mais oui! I speek a leetle bit of French , mind you its couched in a strong Irish accent so how it seems to the French i really can't tell . I'm off to Brittany.
I got myself into a right sticky situation last Saturday. For exercise I scramble along the local coastline during the weekend. It's a bit like rock-climbing, but without the huge drops! I was trying to navigate a fairly significant cliff face when I realised that all the rocks around me were loose and coming away in my hand . There was about a 25ft drop had anything gone wrong. I managed to edge myself to safety but it was a heart-stopping few minutes!
Nowt else really!

DONT GET TOO CLOSE TO THE CLIFF EDGE!!! lol
glad your ok anyway even if you are slightly daft
oi mush
Woodpigeon Posted May 15, 2003
Yes, I live a few miles away from the sea. There are no signs though, because they don't get too many people doing this on a regular basis!
Apparently there are lots of dolphins off the coast of Cork - I have been looking, but I have seen nothing...

with you living nearby i think it would be a good idea to put some warning signs up failing that you should carry your own danger sign lol
do you like dolphins then? you should talk to my friend Midnight Angel then shes nuts about dolphins!
oi mush
Woodpigeon Posted May 16, 2003
That's a great idea about carrying mu own warning sign : Danger - Woodpigeon approaching!
I have only seen dolphins very rarely. There's a dolphin in Dingle harbour in Kerry that greets all the boats at the harbour mouth. He has been there for 20 years now. Incredible animals...

my mum likes to take her holidays in the spanish islands, loads of dolphins there and more than likely a lot cheaper than holidaying in france!

Woodpigeon Posted May 18, 2003
Might it have something to do with a small flying creature with big ears and echolocation?
I'm a bit of an insomniac myself tonight - I have to stay up late until 5.00. To while away the time, I've been up all night trying to get a guide entry ready for Peer Review - it's just finished, but I'll probably submit it on Monday.
Looking forward to the Dawn Chorus in an hours time!

it might and i do like but theyre not my favourite..my favourite would be the lol
that Amy Ant told me to write in the peer review for something i was after but what do i want to write about it for? dont see why a simple request cant be forwarded on through the correct channels to the appropriate people simple instead they want me to write a tolstoy giving my reasons!
fortunately i was unconscious then at 5 in some nightmare or other
catch you later

Woodpigeon Posted May 22, 2003
Peer review takes a bit of work, I'll admit. My article is on Tom Crean, an Irishman who went to Antarctica a couple of times. He's featured on a Guinness ad at the moment - I'm not sure if it is on in the UK though.

I'm off on hols on Saturday - nothing done as yet though! I'm in that "last minute get everything organised before I go" mood at the moment.
I'll be going offline for a few weeks probably, but I hope you are well, and I'll talk to you when I get back!
