Ford - "We're safe,"
Arthur - "Oh good"
Ford - "We're in a small galley cabin, in one of the spaceships of the Vogon Constructor Fleet."
Arthur - "Ah, this is obviously some strange usage of the word 'safe' that I wasn't previously aware of."
I think that military academy line is probably my favourite one out of all the books. Big call, but I think it is.

Yes, Definitely!
'Cheesy but a classic' Describes DNA through and through, especially in hitchikers. What sets him apart is his ability to make some fairly cheesy ideas really work. He wrote so well that some very odd ideas get accepted by the reader because he 'presents' them with such ease and openess....

Heh heh heh - very true!
I do agree on the ideas point. It's just the way in which the paragraph is structured, that there is really no other option presented to the reader to conceive that this may not be the truth! You're presented with this 'factual' account of the universe. Believe it!
