A lot of queueing

Right. Daughter is a roller coaster freak, so for her birthday I took her and her best friend on a day trip to M&Ds, just outside Glasgow.
We got up at 6 in the morning. We got to the ferry terminal. We queued to get on the ferry. We queued for coffee. We queued for the loos. We queued to get off the ferry. We queued for the coach. At the comfort stop, we queued for the loos again. We got to the theme park at just after 12. We queued to get in. We queued for the rides. After I'd been on all the rides I wanted to go on (heck, I went on both of them!) I retired to the bar with my Terry Pratchett and a GnT and left them to it.
The boat trip back was rather lovely - into the golden evening sunlight, with the Irish sea being relatively calm. I was struck by how close geographically the 2 countries are - you're never out of sight of land on the crossing. And I treated myself to a seat in the restaurant with a proper meal and a glass of wine.
And all credit to the girls, they were appreciative of the trip, and never once complained about how boring it was to take a 4 hour journey each way for a bare 4 hours at the park.
Don't know that I'd be doing it every week, mind.

Yes it is close.. but most crossings i've been on have had misty conditions so land was out of sight for much of the time
I take it you were on the Troon crossing? Stanraer is a prettier crossing, but of course you have that 2 hour car journey to Glasgow

Nah it was the fleshpot that is Stranraer. The HSS crossing at just under 2 hours isn't so bad, but Gawd that terminal is hell on earth.
Anyhoo, twas a not bad day. Although I can never pass Ailsa Craig without singin its name along to The Ace of Spades.
How'd the move go?

You have more patience than me, LS
Can I say, don't rent/buy Final Destination 3, if you like white knuckle rides.
Oh and the theme park at Cleethorpes, we've never queued for a ride yet...

Move went well Lucky, thanks
Had 95% of my stuff unpacked and positioned in final location, within 24hours, which was impressive, even for me. I just can't stand seeing things in boxes- i like to normalise things as soon as possible. Perhaps i'm a bit anal about these things but i even unpack holiday bags within minutes of my return
Just sorting out things like Broadband** (due on tomorrow) and linking up my surround speakers and things... The flat had some odd omissions for a 'furnished' accomodation. No freezer, microwave or TV. On the other hand there were some odd additions- so much crockery i could open my own cafe, for example
Mum has sorted me out with a spare freezer and microwave, but no TV as yet. Not really bothered-not a big TV watcher. Will get a tuner for my PC at some point rather than clutering up the place further with another screen.
** Going back to a dial-up is such a pain Dial-up was OK a few years back, but the web, nowadays is designed for BB. Even loading up an email site like Yahoo takes an age, due to all the graphics. Then there's the AVG 9mb updates that pass by unnoticed on BB, but take 30mins or more at present Also kind of forget to dissconnect when away from the computer sometimes At 5p per minute, that could be expensive... oh well BB should be on tomorrow and i can ditch the PAYG dial up
As for the job... well I don't have a computer yet- over a week after starting that's right, i'm a internet manager with no computer in a wholesale dept with decor and 'procedures from pre-1960's It's like Open all Hours in that place. They literally have stock from the 1950's and older! There are boxes on the shelf with 'use by June 1973' stamped on it, and prices are found by looking up various books and ledgers
Sorry guys, thread hijack
