Superfrenchie

The following memory has been brought back by Hoovooloo's thread "Best/worst bits of audience interaction you've heard YOURSELF at the cinema"
(F19585?thread=8305874).
Since I'm not sure my story is on-topic, I'll post it here.
Besides, I didn't know what to post for today's NaJoPoMo, so there. smiley - tongueout

At work, several of us colleagues are within the same age range, and with some interests in common.
So we tend to meet outside as well, for games, birthdays, or meals.
But also for movies.
Now, what you need to understand is, there is something we call "the Curse".
When we go to a movie together, it invariably turns out to be absolutely awful.

... Admittedly, it might improve if we didn't stick to big American action movies and greasy French comedies, but that's another problem: we need movies that everyone will agree to watch.
And that means: big American action movies and greasy French comedies.

Of course, when we went to see the latest Fast and Furious movie (number 5 maybe? or 6?), we should have known better than to go on a Friday night.
Actually, we should have known better than to go, full stop.
But that's the Curse for you.

The theatre was full of teenage boys screaming "**** her! **** her!", every time they saw a half naked woman on screen.
That's approximately 80% of the film, in case you're wondering.

At one point, at the very beginning, it was still pretty quiet, and one boy started talking out loud.
I shushed.

Little did I know, he had a witty come-back all ready for me...

"You shush, yourself!"

Oh, the humiliation.
I was silent for the rest of the movie (and that's saying something!)

It was such a good put-down, we're still using it among ourselves at work.
