I didn't get a chance to read any of the articles but I did read the title page of The Post already, Elektra. Not sure if I've got much to contribute at the moment but I will if I do.

You're right about Peer Review, Vip. 82% of the entries in PR at the moment are by Bluebottle, bobstafford or myself. There are only a few people contributing, and I'm not sure that there are any scouts or sub-editors at all other than the Guide Editors themselves.

It does seem to be the same old crew... but fewer. No new contributors, no new life.

It seems like we are gradually grinding to a halt. I could feel it happening under the BBC and again when we left, but it does seem to be reality now.

Of course, I've not been out and about the site much, but PR should be the heart of h2g2 and it seems to be slowing down to a crawl. A few years ago PR being down to one page - in total! - would be unheard of. I made the mistake of subscribing to PR once and was overwhelmed. No chance of that at the moment.

And with less new content, I guess we have fewer readers, and in time will lose the income stream we need to keep the site running.

Gosh, that suddenly turned to doom and gloom, didn't it. Sorry about that.

Just got our eleccky back on and yeah its difficult to leave

Thoughts on how to add (or perhaps more importantly, retain) new members I'm thinking should be the current priority of the site.

Though I'm sure there is a vicious/virtuous cycle effect in play
