My h2g2-drive, that it.
Work has got a lot heavier (which is great, by the way - before I wasn't able to do much and it was frustrating) but that has had a knock-on effect on the amount of time I spend on here. I've already retired from the Salon, as its backlog component was making it hard to keep up, and I am seriously concerned that ACEing, Scouting and trying to do this Guide Revised thing is just going to be too much. It's becoming a chore, which is exactly what it shouldn't be. The thing is, I could have enough time when at home, but there is always so many things that need to be done and RL takes precedence.
I'm not going anywhere, but I'm going to have to have a bit of a think about what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. So if I'm not being as active as I used to be, my apologies. I'll be around, but I think I need to back off for a bit until it's fun again.

Good plot Vip! Don't be away too long and keep popping in; but don't take so much that it becomes a bother

I've been feeling that way a little myself lately. These things have peaks and troughs, in my experience.

I know just what it is like to have a pleasurable hobby become a chore. And it's one you can relate to - bellringing.
I never got to the stage of some of the mad peal ringers, but I did become a bit of a mad quarter-peal ringer - over 400 in 3 years. And a lot of tricky stuff as well, so that 400 included about 150 lost attempts, plus all the time spent learning, being a regular at three different practices a week, an outing most Saturdays, working on the Guild Committee, etc, etc.
What I found happening was that I was having bizarre physical symptoms while ringing quarters - choking, shortness of breath, dizziness, that sort of thing - and I finally realised that the big problem was that I was no longer enjoying the ringing (not because the ringing was bad -a lot of it was excellent; but because it had become a chore rather than a hobby). And because I'm not a church-goer, the main reason for my doing the ringing has always been because I enjoy it, so if I'm not enjoying it, something needed doing.
The something that needed doing? It wasn't easy. In fact I still have trouble with it. It is...saying No.
(I've rung 30 quarters so far this year, but I can cope with that).
So. Was there a point? Oh yes. Remember that hootoo is a hobby. You do it for fun. If it ain't fun, well...
well...
just blame.....

Aww, poor 2legs.
That#s scary with your ringing, HD, but I can totally relate. Admittedly I never got to that stage with ringing but I can see how it would become habitial ("Oh Vip, are you up for a quarter on Friday night?" "Yeah sure."). Fun is the key.
It'll come back. I think I'm going to back out of Scouting a bit. Not completely, but I've not been commenting on everything of late nd it's going to stay that way.

Hi Vip!
Glad to hear that you won't quite disappear, and I think that you are right not to do too much. Since you started TGR recently, you must have spent far longer working for h2g2 than previously.
I've not been doing much recently myself, as I've had a few real life things to occupy me more, but I'll certainly be back in PR again, and finish the updates of TGR.
I don't think you need to comment on every article in PR, there do seem to be more people around these days ( thank goodness) but it will be good to see you there now and again, as you have a voice of reason that I like to see.
Enjoy your weekend - hope the sun shines on whatever you get up to!

TGR has a high start-up time-cost, but it should be okay when it's all up and running. I just need to get a time when Mr Vip and I can work on it together as I need his technical expertise to create the pages and things.
TGR is a good idea but I am slightly concerned that, essentially, the people who want to do it will mostly be the Scouts, and then they have to manage their time even more than they already have to.
I think I just need a holiday!

You take a holiday darling! with Mr Vip - you deserve it. I've been a bit absent recently, just dropping in to see if there were any crises. I should be back to a bit more actual involvement fairly soon.
Doing any monstering this weekend?

Nah, not this weekend, and I'm a paying customer rather than crew at the event next weekend. I'm getting all excited though as I'll be there ony my own for a lot of it and therefore get to go out and make my own fun...
