Do I hear the sounds of ka-ching coming from Cupertino?

I guess the percentage piracy rate on Apple software just skyrocketed...
By the way, "Hell" is a town in Alaska, and it's always cold. Hence the phrase "Colder than Hell". I never entirely understood the "Cold day in Hell" saying. Must be a Christian mythos thing...

It's also a town in Norway and hence equally cold...
Apple may be shooting themselves in the foot here as it's iTunes has been people's main reason for buying Apple Macs over the last few years

You're right, of course. It's in Norway.
I don't know why "Alaska" came to the forefront of my mind there. I guess I watched too much "Northern Exposure"...

I don't think they are shooting themselves in the foot. They will make a lot of money from the music sales. Also this is not the first Apple software given away for free to Windows users - that was probably Quicktime, and it pays off in the long run to get lots of people to use your technology. Apple sold lots of Macs to people who wanted to produce Quicktime content, and still does. And if it works well on Windows, they can start to advertise the Mac as being "as easy to use as iTunes" and lots more people will understand what that means.

I've helped far more people convert to Apple (and Linux) in the last few years than I have set up PCs for, which is always a good sign

Actuly its a mythos from several relgions, and some even think that hell has both hot areas and cold areas as it where. However thats not the current dabate. iTunes is an extreemly good application and it kiks the ass off of anything I have ever seen run on windows (winamp, WMP and so forth).

I'm quite fond of MusicMatch Jukebox under Windoze; I got it with my Archos MP3 device. It only has one real irritation; it doesn't "remember" the last directory you browsed - in the same session, let alone between sessions!

The music sharing feature of iTunes for both Windows and Mac become fantastic when you are on a large corporate intranet with lots of music buffs. So far I count 30 people online with shared music... a total of 30 days worth of tunes!!!

Downloading it now (I'm on 2000 ) - it's *huge!*
It's the best part of 20MB for the (presumably compressed) installer, as compared to just sub-5MB for my current app.

Warning to anybody installing Windows' iTunes:
It comes up with a dialog box saying "You have a Quicktime application open; press 'Continue' to close it and proceed with installation."
Assuming it meant the QT launcher in the system tray, I let it continue. It proceeded to shut down my browser without further warning, losing the content of 10 of my 12 open tabs that I had opened from links in emails before deleting the emails.
Oh, and I've restarted my computer as it insisted (for XP apps at least, this is considered to be a serious bug!) yet selecting it from the start menu seems to do nothing. How do you launch the thing?
