No ambition, thats my problem... According to anyone I've seen from school since I left, apparently I owe it to society to study and add my intellect to helping the world. Nobody understands I didnt ask to be born this way.

Yeh. They say that to me too.
F**k that. I have had enough of being academic, and I fully intend to slack off until I am good and ready to be productive again.
I reckon something will kick in at some point.

Hmmm. F*ck society and mankind. The only thing Im interested in is my personal happiness...
Which is another reason I wouldnt make a good politician...

You don't have to have ambition - you just have to be annoyed enough. Not just annoyed enough to moan on about things - annoyed enough to DO something. Complaining is cheap.

And you can *sensibly* say "f**k society and mankind" the same day you have the money to go to Magrathea and get your own custom planet built. Till then, my friend, we're both stuck on this ball of mud together and you can stick your fingers in your ears and close your eyes but it won't make the rest of us
(a) go away or
(b) stop materially affecting YOUR potential pleasure and happiness with everything we do.
So if you REALLY care about your pleasure and happiness, and if you REALLY think there's something worth complaining about happening, you know what to do.
And if you don't, well, why are you complaining?

Don't get me wrong - it's perfectly OK not to care.
I didn't care at your age, but I didn't complain either.
Then again, at your age I got a full grant to go to university, unemployment benefit during the vacations, housing benefit to pay the rent, poll tax didn't exist and blah blah blah blah eee when I were a lad. So I didn't complain. Why would I?
And I don't *complain*, per se, now. Because I know that if I start to, other people like me will say "stop moaning and DO something about it".
I've got no problem with not caring, as long as your attitude is "I'm alright Jack". Which I am, and I hope you all are too (and given that by definition if you're reading this you've got internet access, you're not doing that badly...)

Hmm.
I just wanted more canvassing in my area so my vote wasn't wasted. That's all.

Demon Drawer Posted Apr 19, 2003
Canvassing in generally only carried out where people think they have a chance of winning even more so in a council election where one or two keys seats might make the difference and all action may tend to be focused there. It is sad but there is apathy even amongst those who are members of politicla parties to do any of the hard slug work of canvassing etc. Although it does sound as if the Lib Dems and labour are both keen to get your vote by keeping you informed thoughout hte year not just at election times.
