It's good to finally be able to sit down when I want and browse the net. I'm slipping back into *almost* functioning right now, and the added availability of not only a decent program to work with (OK, so some of you might not rate Notepad as a decent word program, but writing is about the words you use, not the software.) but the ability to click on a few icons and access what I need to access.
I have two specific competitions available to me right now that I need to enter. One of them has a p**s easy topic : true story of some part of your life. Just has to be compelling and/or emotional. I can do that in a flash. Plenty of s**t there for me to access. But the second is the one I am having problems with. The specific topic basically revolves around some random phrase this woman has picked out : "Who has time, and waits for time, lacks time" (rough translation, I bet)...and I'll be b******d backwards if I can think of a theme/topic to pull from that. Usually I can work with a cliche pretty well : but so far only one has arisen. I'm not too patient with the ol' google search : mainly because I can never find the right keyword. So I plug along, hoping to get something done before each respective deadline. Astrology dictates that this dry period of mine will end sometime soon, so that at least gives me motivation to keep kicking through the porch screen in a desperate attempt for fresh air. Even if it ain't realistic, it's something to hold onto.
Aside from that, I seem to be just living each day as it comes. It is tremendously irresponsible : finances are at the lowest possible point possible I guess. I know it's my fault, but as much as everyone may disagree with me, I don't feel capable of existing in the real world like the rest of you do. It's not like I won't sometime soon. Just not right now. Things eventually resurrect themselves. They have to right?
Other things : love to everyone out there who hasn't seen much of me of recent. I *am* back now (I hope) and I intend to stick around. I am hoping njan and Nyssa aren't overdoing it in the bedroom (GUYS! You have to come out sometime!) and I know Stealth is doing Ok. As for the rest of you, you obviously haven't missed me that much, so I'll let you get back to your h2g2 obsessions...
(Oh, and anyone who can help me with the writing comp topic : let me know!)

"Who has time, and waits for time, lacks time"
I would sum this up as prevarication. Anyone who has the time to think about time or is waiting for just the right time for whatever is prevaricating and ultimately lacks time because they never get round to doing anything. Is this any more use to you in writing something? Is it a poem or short story? You could make it about almost anything you've come across where inaction was ultimately worse even than taking potentially the "wrong" action would have been. Action can be words in this sense, eg not saying something to someone who then dies before you "get the chance" to resolve an issue - though in fact you've had loads of chances. I know of at least one song on this theme.
PS I exist in the real world as little as possible. It's dangerous out there! I wouldn't rely on astrology to plan my finances though.

You mean I was actually helpful for once. It'll never catch on. For one thing it might ruin my reputation.

He who has time- Being only a tiny bit provocative, I will say that would be the rich. Who else really has time?
Who wastes time- Once again, the rich, but more specifically the idle rich or those who have not found purpose.
Lacks time- Quite blatently, those who waste lives feel them unfufilled, or alternately realise the emptiness of their lives too late.
Probably all incredibly obvious to you, but just my first opinion.

Yes, in the "old" days that would probably have been true. However, with the UK system of benefits, there are large numbers of paid unemployed who have loads of time which some refuse to use. They would be considered rich by the standards of a mediaeval peasant but would undoubtedly argue strenuously at the benefits counter or in any protest march etc that they are not rich. So it's very much a matter of perception.

Then of course you have the debate about where the poverty line is...
cl zoomer - Not obvious. Thankyou.

Jobseekers Allowance wouldn't make anyone rich... those unfortunate enough to have to ***survive*** on beifits in the UK do not have quality of life regardless of how much time they may have... Though of course if you are what is termed an 'Asylum Seeker' things are much more comfortable relative to those staying in a prison, hospital or housing estate.

Well. It depends how well you fiddle the system to tell you the truth. Not everyone is on Job Seekers. Some people inccorectly claim incapacity benefits, and live their whole lives off of that.
But that's not the case for everyone.

There's a differance between people on benifits and people commiting fraud...

Oops - sorry Saturnine. I seem to have led your thread astray while debating cl zoomer's point. The true purpose of this thread is not to define or determine the poverty line but to ensure that Saturnine gets off it wherever it happens to be.

Nothin' actually. It's been a slow week for the uh..bed. Shame too, what with this Pill-enhanced bosoms *looks contemplatively downwards*
I am looking forward to the next 48 hours. We're resting up (poor Jamie-fish didn't sleep at all last night ), and tomorrow will probably..well I'm not sure exactly, but it will involve burning a lot of petrol .

Isn't there an "official" member of h2g2 for doing that? I'm sure someone was going round calling themselves the bosom/breast inspector or something of the sort...
