Lunacy!!!
Saturnine Started conversation Dec 21, 2002
What a f**king cattle market Bristol is today. Not only do we have ten times the amount of sheep with their shopping bags; but there is the added effect of a bunch of fundamentalist Christians who are screaming about how spending money and drinking alcohol is evil. Not to mention the Socialist part shouting about the war on Iraq.
It is suprising I didn't thump someone.

OK, now I understand the other post. I've got to check my threads more often. I have some advice- F*CK 'em! Have your own kind of Christmas (or holiday or Ramadan or whatever) with your own kind of people. Ya gotta laugh at street theatre! Nothing *has* to be done right this second, does it? Lean out the window and swear at passing shoppers then sit back and watch the fun!

Looking out my window I see shoppers going by at a frightening rate (well for this neighbourhood). I feel obliged to them but it's 10:00 AM here and perhaps a bit early for that kind of thing

Well this same window (at the back, which is to say side) faces: the roof of a Japanese restaurant, the roof of a Chinese grocery, three high rises, the street, Grouse mountain now covered with snow and itty bitty skiers going down it, and a low rent flop house full of drunks and pervs. Still think I should them?

No, its a 20 foot wide delapidated 4 story walk up full of welfare hard cases who drink beer starting in the morning. Several of them never bathe and the place had a car up on blocks rusting away in the back until recently. The neighbourhood is great other than that one building and I can't see it lasting much longer with the property values going up. I would call them local colour if it wasn't for the odd throwing of empty bottles and the accosting of women who walk by.

Yeh. Um. I've lived in a place like that. S'called being homeless. Pretty unfair judgement to make about everyone that lives there, but I can see your point. We have one of those. It's called Stokes Croft, but you'd have to be Bristolian to at that.
That area has also had a million stabbings and shootings occur within the last 6 months. Bristol is the most dangerous place to live in at the moment...we have TWO urban ghetto's within 10 miles of each other. S'not good. Small city.
But then, I've never been afraid to walk home alone...unless a guy walks too close to me whilst I'm in Bedmister...

No, these guys aren't homeless. We have a pretty good social system. We do have lots of homeless but most of them are mentally handicaped or druggies. These guys just live in a place so cheap that they can drink the majority of their dole check.

Didn't insinuate that THEY were homeless...just that I have lived in a place like that when me & my Mum were homeless. Not everyone does it by choice. Hope there aren't any single parents or any horrible s**t like that stuck in there because they can't afford any better.
Ooh. Social conscience. Where has that been?

Oh, a lack of social conscience, where did that come from?
Signing off soon, will be back on later. Must eat. Must shower. Must buy wrapping paper

Ok
I'll do other things. Need to write in my diary (haven't done so for a while) and other random things.
