If you're interested (if you can put more links in your article now it's been approved), I wrote an article on the Blue Moon Cafe about a month ago - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A691229 It perhaps needs editing a bit - apart from anything it probably focusses on the architecture of the place a little too much (I used to work for the people who did the refurbishment).

nb., I like your article, but I'm not convinced by the 'down sides' bit - apart from the hills the complaints levelled against Sheffield there are applicable to just about every city in the UK smiley - winkeye

I like the article about the Blue Moon cafe, although I can't put a link in now- the article's totally out of my hands. A sub-ed type or an editor might be able to. I think it deserves a link! smiley - biggrin As to whether or not its OK to link to an article that isn't in the edited guide, no-one seems too suresmiley - erm. I'm useless and know nothing.

As far as the down sides gosmiley - sadface, I was a lot nicer about Sheffield than I was about Eastbourne (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A543106) if that's any consolation. I agree that downsides like parking and that probably are a problem in any major city, although I do think that architecture-wise, Sheffield isn't going to win any prizes for the prettiest city, so I stand by that onesmiley - smiley.

Thanks for the comments, and I do like the article on the Blue Moon Cafe.

smiley - smiley Thanks for the approval. I should really have listed the things I liked about your article (in the 'all criticism' brainwashed state talking to my tutors leaves me in), but I'd be here forever smiley - biggrin

I don't know much about the editing process - I keep meaning to find out but never get round to it. It's a shame you can't edit it. It seems to have taken a long time to have gone through the works - there's a lot going on in the city at the moment and it's a shame they weren't quicker over editing it or you might have had the chance to include them! The Millennium Galleries springs to mind - I agree that Sheffield's not going to win many architecture prizes (as an architecture student I have an appreciation for what the 60's architects were trying to achieve in places like Park Hill, but as a resident I concede that they were pretty disastrous), but the Galleries and the Winter Gardens to come really are classy architecturally. The Galleries isn't a pretty building, but it's very clever (or, at least, when the Winter Gardens are open it's intelligence will make sense), and it's of a quality you very rarely get outside London.

I noticed someone talked of starting a Sheffield Pub Guide page - if I get the time I might start one about the architecture smiley - smiley

I'm kind of brainwashed too, but yeahsmiley - online2long. An architecture guide thingy sounds goodsmiley - biggrin. They're knocking down some of the worst offenders architecturally speaking(to my mind, anyway) at the moment. I'm going to have to nominate the cathedral to stay off that good architecture list as well. What were they thinking?smiley - yikes

Anyway, that's all, really.
