The *real* meaning of Stonehenge - again! ;-)

Gone again

It seems Stonehenge is a fertility symbol after all: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=564&ncid=564&e=4&u=/nm/20030708/ts_nm/life_stonehenge_dc_1

I'm not convinced myself, but it's always nice to read the latest views. smiley - ok

Or, how about this for a crazy idea. Perhaps stonehenge represents the wheel! The greatest invention of the time. Makes perfect sense.

I'd say it looks more like a wheel than a vulva anywya.

I liked the tent idea. The outer ring of holes is in just the right place for large wooden beams to rest against them and the trilithons to form a big roofed area (like the Coliseum). Stonehenge as meeting hall is one I find interesting and satisfying. It explains the lack of burials next to it. After all, a meeting hall would be used for many things including religious ritual.

I find it perplexing that so many people try and build theories based around nothing more than what something looks like if you squint of proportions. Just because it 'matches' something doesn't mean the match is significant. It's just like looking at clouds. A puff of cumulonimbus may look like your uncle Donald but that doesn't means it was made in honour of him.

Anyway, ancient Britons were well-aware that the female genitalia were not circular. I wonder if the guy behind the theory has ever actually seen a woman naked...

It never ceases to amaze me what ridiculous theories people will propose on the slimmest evidence.
