When's Life on Mars coming back?
Why did that alien eat human hearts? Surely not it's natural food source. Or did it just do it for kicks. Also, where can I get me one of those pendants?

If humans can eat lamb hearts (you can even get them in Tesco) I see no reason why something else can't eat human hearts.

>Why did that alien eat human hearts?
Because it wouldn't have been as much fun if it had eaten salads.
Also, because it 'resonates' with the Raiders of the Lost Ark films.
Sometimes 'resonates' means 'rips-off'.

This is a very valid arguement, but for the following problems:
1. Raiders of the Lost Ark was merely part one of the Indiana Jones trilogy.
2. Heart removal only featured in one of the films, namely Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
3. The heart was not consumed, nor were there aliens involved.
4. Bizarre as it may sound the script writers for Temple of Doom didn't invent heart removal as a method of death, thus negating any notion that Torchwood 'ripped off' the film.

Traveller in Time reading 'Daniken'
"It is a reference to the prisoner colony known as the Inca Kingdom. You know those ancient south american people sacrificing human hearts to their Gods. "

Scarily, that makes perfect sense. So, was Jack standing on the roof looking for pyramids?
So, if those aliens sent a lot of their criminals here is that where the Incan culture came from?

If anyone's still watching it, what did you think of the last episode?

Re: Jack standing on the roof. (Posted here because 1. I'm in college and it's hard to sneakily read a very long thread, and 2. The other Torchwood thread has veered off-course a little and as a newbie I'm scared to divert it back!)
There's an interesting scene of Jack standing on the roof in the book Slow Decay, where he explains it a little - something to do with the way parents watch their children playing in the garden. I won't go into too much detail here because there may be a lot of people who haven't read it yet.
Actually, I'm not too keen on the books. Border Princes has a very nice cover pic, but it gives away the ending! How dumb is that? Plus, the characterisation is all wrong, Jack swears too much. I can't quote all 13 episodes word-for-word of course (although with the first DVD being out I could probably manage episodes one to five) but he's not known for four-letter outbursts. In fact, in episode one he tells Gwen off for swearing!

Maybe he doesn't swear for contractual reasons, but I like that he doesn't - there are enough naughty words coming from the others. I think it just makes him hotter

Yeah, he'd be soooo classy if he wasn't shagging his secretary!
