Ok, I started collecting info for a new article, and all I can say is that I may have bit off more than I can chew with this one. Could this be the reason no one has submitted a decent article about the Simpsons yet?

Yes, you have. Abandon hope, all ye who enter there.
But a book you should look at is "The Simpsons: A complete guide to our favorite family" by groening/ Ray Richmond, in Harper Collins. Complete being the word, it has everything about everything.
Note: If you don't mention Life In Hell, I'll hate you for ever

Not only do I have the Complete Guide book, but I received "The Simpsons Forever" this holiday season - it is the continuation, covering seasons 9 and 10. They will be my primary sources, along with The Simpsons Archive (www.snpp.com)
Ok, I'll try to fit Life in Hell (and Futurama) in there somewhere - but there won't be room for more than a mention

Simpsons?
I actually thought about writing an article about them, but sadly, time and patience are just not on my side...
Good luck. If you'd like an help I'll try to volunteer any time I have available...

Hi Frus
I think I'll be able to finish it on my own, but thanks for the offer! It is going slow right now because of time constraints, but when I do have time it seems to write itself.......unfortunately it is distracting me from finishing my March Madness article!

hi frink!
damn, good luck there if you are writing a comprehensive article. it might be better to try to either focus on a part of the simpsons or do a broad overview. i mean, it is quite a daunting task. i love the simpsons, so i will be happy to give you some constructive criticism on your article when you finish it (if you finish it).
wow, just thinking about that article's size makes my head hurt.

Hi kalu
The Simpsons article is going to be an ongoing thing I work on when I can find time - I used to write articles in one or two sittings, but lately I've been getting much more verbose.
Verbose? Damn, I knew that college degree would pay off some day.
I've been working on the character profiles for the Simpsons article so far. It's fun, but there are sooooo many characters to write about. That's one of the things that makes the Simpsons special - try having that many characters on "Friends" (ick)
Question - can anyone think of other animated primetime shows that probably wouldn't have seen the light of day if it weren't for the Simpsons? Here's what I have so far:
Futurama, King of the Hill, Family Guy, The Critic.
It's too bad The Tick never got primetime recognition

SPOON!! i agree, there were so many cartoons that wouldnt have made it. how about ren and stimpy, or beavis and butthead? i think that both of these could owe some of their success to the foundation that the simpsons laid for good ole fashioned comedy.

Dr Katz, Professional Therapist; and Duckman are my contributions to that conundrum.

Somebody call for a monkey?

Actually, there was trouble at the lab with the running and the exploding and the crying when the monkeys stole the glasses off my head.
Blergen-whey!

Blergen-whey? I'm not familiar with this... I know of 'waaay' and 'duuuude' & 'shaaa, far out man;' but not this blergen-whey... O well.
Mayhaps you're familiar with Matilda the Magic Monkey? I'm not, but I'm urgent to make her acquaintance. You see, I'm just sure she's purple. & word has it, when she's especially happy, she turns pink & shoots pop rocks out her nose & poofs large handfulls of glitter all around.
Yay.

That whole exchange was actually a monologue out of The Simpsons. I'll let Frink explain what Blurgen-whey means.
Simpsane?
The Ghost Of TV's Frink Posted Jan 30, 2000
Blurgen-whey is one of the odd noises Professor Frink (my namesake) makes. Most of the other noises involve some variation of "hey" repeated in odd variations. Incidentally, in the Simpsons' scripts, these noises are listed as "(FRINK noise)," a bit of trivia I will be sure to include in my article.

OOoh, this is now making more sense to me. Perhaps I should watch more TV. Does my lack of knowledge of this "Frink" make me under-cultured? Hmm... Thanks mucho for the info.. Guide entry? That reminds me.. I made one about pickles a few days ago.. perhaps I should check it out... Heh.. I'll be sure to bask in the infinite glow of wisdom which I'm sure your article shall emit, Mr. Frink.
