Why is there only a background in pane 3?

Very funny. I thought the backround was rather... appropriate- for lack of a better word due to sleep deprivation.

How so?

I don't know exactly... I guess it sort of established the mood of that particular panel. It helped to make her eyes look more bugged out and made it a more interesting picture to look at. It highlighted what details there were in the picture. I'd really have to think of it more when it isn't ten after one in zee morning.

I can relate to the woman’s reaction! The explanation beneath the comic is superfluous in my opinion – the comic is self-explanatory. I like the manga-like style, especially in the fourth picture! Great job!

The fourth panel? You be referring to the "chibi" or superdeformed style. I thought it would add to the humor. And about the explanation: the way I figure it, if you understand the joke then nothing is being taken away. But if you see the comic and don't understand and then scroll down for the description it all works out.
