cricket is a marvellous game and i think that with most of the world playing the game i am still amazed that some people do not understand the basics of it...i mean baseball is a mangled version of it created so that people who cannot sit through FIVE days play could sit through seven - nine innings instead...anyway back to the issue at hand. i know of no other game in the history of the world that can be played for 5 days and still either result in a draw (read unfinished) or a tie...some people would not find this exciting, others do. i personally thank the good lord for the invention of one day cricket (or pajama cricket as it is known in some circles) One day cricket is a game of 50 "overs" a side and each over consists of six or more balls (pitches for those who just dont get cricket) depending on whether or not the bowler bowls a wide or a no-ball in which case he gets to bowl more..and the batting team get a bonus run. In one day cricket the aim for the batting team is to score as many runs as possible and then go out and field and get the other team out for less runs...this sounds very simple, but it is a complex game which can be very taxing on the participants, and therefore they have a "drinks" break, a tea break and a lunch break to replenish the energy they lose standing around in the field all day doing pretty much nothing.
oh and i think the exclusion of women from the long room at lords is a bit silly...but did you all know that the men's toilets in the member's area at the Melbourne Cricket Ground overlook the ground and the men can watch the games while taking care of business...but the women's toilets are down the back and around the corner and without view!

Maybe the women don't get a view because the windows would have to be a little bit too low for their needs ? smiley - winkeye
