Sucked into Infomercials
Ellen Started conversation Apr 11, 2009
I've got to stop watching late night TV when I cannot sleep. There are too many infomercials, and they are sucking me in! Maybe I'm just feeling unusually domestic, but I already ordered a food chopper and a steam vacuum this month. My brother says that I've got to stop spending so much. He's says I'll wind up living in a cardboard box. But it will have a clean floor!

Those darn infomercials! I almost bought one of those Shark Mops I saw in one infomercial. Thank goodness I am usually sleeping when they air!
As long as you don't spend *too* much. And clean carpet is a Good Thing!!

I ordered the Haan steam cleaner instead of the Shark one, because it looked studier. I'll let you know whether I like it, and how it works.

I've never heard of an 'infomercial', but I get the picture.
Last year I finally bought a proper chef's knife and a proper sharpener. I watch cookery programmes and learnt from watching the Gordon Ramsay technique. Sharpening it can be quite theraapeutic, so no food chopper for me...and I've started using a dust pan and brush like my grandmother used to use, instead of always using a vacuum cleaner.
Wonder how a picture of someone squatting down with a dustpan and brush would go down as an infomercial? Maybe they could sell it as a cheaper version of an 'excercise bike'? I bought one of those once...but like most people I ended up taking it to the local dump. It sent me round the bend
