My old doctor, who was pretty nice but difficult to get in to see, retired. I saw a new doctor today. I DID NOT like him. He flatly refused to do a test I think I need, on the grounds that it was "too expensive." When I said I would pay for the test ($300), he was astonished, but then STILL REFUSED, saying that depression and chronic fatigue were not bad enough symptoms. When he found out that I was bipolar, he condescendingly asked who I lived with, and who had driven me to my appointment. When I said I live by myself, and drove by myself, he was astonished again. I'm supposed to go back for a complete physical, including a pap smear and a breast exam. But I really don't want this turkey touching me. As a Unitarian Universalist, I don't believe in Hell, but if I did, I'd want this guy at the front of the line. May he live to be as ill as I am, and have as uncaring a doctor.

Chronic fatigue isn't bad enough for him? How much worse does he want it to get? For Bob's sake, is he a real doctor or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?
Hope you do feel better soon.

Nasty. It's important to have a Dr you have a good relationship with. I've changed all mu psychiatric staff this year - which possibly contributed to the nastiness. The shrink is OK, but the CPN...a decent enough guy, I guess, but a bit too much of a Man's Man for me to get on with.

Change your Dr?

Thanks for hug. I really need to sleep soon, but every time I lie down, my thoughts drift back to this doctor, and I get too adrenalined up to doze off.

You shouldn't keep seeing a GP who makes you uncomfortable. I hope you find another one soon!

It can take real guts to change your GP, especially if you're nervous and it's been a long time. But equally you can find that it's easy and simple. Sometimes a fresh mind can be very very helpful. If not, just change again until you're satisfied - as many times as your medical insurance will let you. You're the one who's paying. So -

Go for it girl!smiley - ok

IF you can and want, consider asking for a change now.
Most insurance allows for that. The best medicine is practiced between 2 people whom can relate.

He IS a turkey!
I have known a few, also many good ones Dr.s are only human, some are not *healthy enough to handle your ongoing input or issues in your individual life.

He seems to have done a lot of assuming alreadysmiley - crossThat always makes me ill at ease when it's Primary Care especially. The experts you see one time are not as vital for having a good communications.
