I got an ominous error message from my computer tonight. It said "at least one area of drive C has sustained physical damage" and that while this may be an isolated incident it "may be a sign of impending hardware failure." Lovely! I just spent a couple hours going through scandisk, fixing the errors.

eek, I had that... the pc worked sort of for a while, but in the end it was "new hard drive time"
sigh.
still, it was a good chance to get rid of all the rubbish I had on my old hard drive and download a whole load of new Legolas pics to letch!

Did running scandisk fix the error message so that it does re-appear when you re-start the computer?

If so, the problem may have just been with data files written to the disk, rather than the disk itself.

If it has re-appeared, the problem is most probably a physical one with the drive - which would need replacing.

Wise to back up in any case.
