Z is wondering which STI should I tackle next?

As my entry on Syphilis has now been picked for the Edited Guide I was wondering which STI should I attack next?
We have plenty on HIV/AIDS already.. so which other STI should I write about?

First, I would think about re-phrasing that subject line.

Do we have an entry on HPV? Or how about one on STIs you can transmit via oral sex (that's an area with a ton of misinformation)? Trichomoniasis (love those parasites)?

I like the idea of an entry on which STIs can be caught from oral sex. I'd need to research it though.
I also like the idea of an entry in HPV / Cervical cancer, and why smear tests are important.
And Herpes, Herpes is important as well.

That one gets my vote! Apparently it's symptom-less and can lead to infertility so I'd like to see that one in the Guide. We need to encourage more women to go and get tested for that.

Chlamidia indeed. It's simple test, and more people should go for it. A thumbs up for the oral sex transmition thing too though.
Just a thought- is there a short entry on STDs? Such as what the disease is called, any symptons, and the test you'd need to check for it?

I also believe that there is s'thing superlative about chlamydia i.e. most common or fastest rising .. or s'thing.

I know most people think this is an urban myth, but my sis is a nurse and was on the ward when she heard a new mother saying words like 'chlamydia - that's a nice word - for a girl's name, I think I'll choose that'(shock horror).... and my sis and colleagues tried but just could not convince her otherwise. We just hoped the registrar wouldn't accept it but never heard either way.

Well, there is the unedited Entry on STD's by JimiX at A152939 which mentions chlamydia. This was written in 12999, so perhaps someone should help him finish it...

The strange thing is, I've also heard it elsewhere, since my sis was personally involved in this incident (circa 1997)...so has it happened more than once or did someone spread it from there, I wonder ?

"since my sis was personally involved in this incident (circa 1997)"
I do hope you're talking about the baby-naming and not Jimi's STDs.

How about warts, the genital ones, which are much more interesting than the common or garden ones, or even verrucas, they can apparently evolve into fantastic cauliflower formations given half a chance...which would give you a nice link with the oral stuff " oooh, is that purple sprouting broccoli i see?Yummy"
Nah, seriously, there is supposed to be a link with all this and cervical cancer later on isn't there? Or has it all been sorted since "my day" and replaced with chlamydia, which i can't even pronounce, let alone recognise if the need arose!
I have often felt sorry for herpes sufferers, it just isn't trendy anymore, there should be badges and support groups "whatever happened to herpes huh?" Retro STD's have rights too, do crabs still exist? What about scabies?
I rather like the attitude here in France, where they have Lottery tickets called "Morpion", which is a popular cartoon character, and very appropriate for a scratch card, since it means pubic lice!
