Ouija Boards - I've tried it thanks.
Lady in a tree Started conversation Oct 26, 2001
This is not a horror story - nothing ghastly happens. It is simply a tale of revelation.
It was my birthday. I went for a couple of drinks with 2 work mates - "M" and "C". It was literally that - a couple of drinks - we were not drunk.
We went back to "M"s flat to eat and as the evening progressed we started to tell each other spooky stories. "C" decided it would be good fun to do a Ouija board. We cut out squares of paper and wrote the letters of the alphabet out and a "yes" and "no". We used a round, glass top coffee table and laid out the letters in a circle with yes and no opposite each other. We put an upside down wine glass in the middle.
At this point I became a bit wary and said that I didn't feel like doing this. "C" said that we might as well start and if then nothing happens then we'll have wasted our time but if something does happen then I can say whether I wanted to stop or not.
Needless to say something did happen - "C" cornily asked if there was anybody there a few times and then the glass began to move. I swear that none of us was pushing it. I was freaked a bit by that but carried on.
Anyway - cutting it short(er) - we asked who the "spirit" wanted to speak to and it spelled out MY initials...the other 2 girls being just work mates didn't know my middle initial and yet it spelled it out 3 times.
We asked the name of the "spirit" and it spelt out a name. It was my grandfather's name - in Hebrew. It then spelled out Gdansk - where my grandfather emigrated from. The other 2 girls quite obviously had nothing to do with this as my grandpa died in 1971 when I was only 5.
At this point I asked to stop as I was totally convinced it was all for real but had had enough.
I shall never go near another ouija board in my life.

Why don't you want to know what your Grandfather wanted to say to you?
Ouija Boards - I've tried it thanks.
Lady in a tree Posted Oct 30, 2001
It's not that I didn't want to know what he wanted to say Hiram - it's that I didn't feel comfortable with the whole "other side" of things. As I said I didn't really want to do it in the first place.
I figure that I'll find out what it's all about when I'm dead. I am living this part of my life now and if we were meant to know what happens in the next part of our "lives" then we would learn all about it in school!
As for what my grandpa wanted to say I reckon it would have been something like "I hope you're not smoking or drinking my girl - it will kill you, you know!"
Ah well...I'm sure we'll catch up and have a laugh about it at some time in the future...

Well, they don't teach everything about life in school.... if you weren't meant to know what he had to say, then he probably wouldn't try to contact you... Have you ever seen or heard of the television show "Crossing Over with John Edwards" ? He is a gifted medium and his show is basically a talk show where he channels the dead to bring them in contact with audience members.... spooky....

Lady, shouldn`t this story be in another thread, like `What Scares The Hell Out Of You?` But before we leave the subject of Ouija boards, firstly ask yourself this - you consider the possibility that your friends may have moved the glass deliberately but dismiss the idea that they could have known the answers to spell out, and I agree with you that it is unlikely but you have missed the point. Three people were `pushing` the glass and one of those people knew the answers that were spelt out. The answers were not revealed by any spirit, you can believe that, they were in your mind all the time. Rest easy- there are no ghosts and the ouija board can do you no harm, unless, you count the danger of obsession.

Thanks for that Bornonthe20thaugust (there IS no way to shorten your name is there!!!). I have listed all the things that scare me in the "What Scares The Hell Out Of You?" thread. This was a halloween special!
I did consider that the glass was being pushed, yes. Until I 'tried' pushing it. Have you (or anyone else) ever tried to push an upside down wine glass around a table? It will push OVER easily because of the weight difference of the stem and base compared to the bowl. So - even if it were my sub-conscious "speaking" then the whole thing still spooks me.
Now the subject of telekinesis....

Well Lady, one of my friends just calls me 20/8.
I have tried the ouija board when I was a teenager and I seem to remember the glass did move very easily and I ` think` that I wasn`t pushing it. But the answers were pretty much rubbish. If I were you I wouldn`t give it another thought.
If you apply logic to the realm of ghost`s and spirits and realise how many people have passed on since humanity began we would literally be falling over such `ghosts ` if they really existed.

You're right. If there were no laughter, the Tao would not be Tao.

hey little knowledge
what in the heck is a Tao? is it short for something and if it is ,what? and everyone by the way i have tried a Ouija board as well. i asked this spirit that was roaming my house andf that was closing things like doors, and unlocking and opening windows. i asked the name of this spirit and this is not a fake, he said its name was DEVILMAN. this is no bs. this is true. i asked him is he the devil, but he replied no. i asked where did he get his name from, but then he wrote out the words ENTER. i thought it was a joke so i said yes. never say yes to the word enter. he thrashed me like i was a ball and he was a bat. i have brueses all up my arms and on my legs. i can barely type correctly because of this. sometimes when i look in mirrors and see an evil looking man with half of his face crumbly like it had been burnt. however when i said yes and he entered i only saw orbs and such. freaky
by the way the word ouija means oui-french for yes, and ja-italian or spanish or something for no
any questions about my experiance mail me.
