Right, back on after something of a hiatus, and here are my subjects of choice today:

=======================================================================

Monday I came back to Sunderland. I arrived at Warrington Central station ready for the 9.45 train which would get me into sunderland for 1.19 pm. Lovely.

By 9.50, I'm sitting on my luggage waiting for an announcement as to why the train hasn't arrived yet. at 9.55 we're told that due to signal failure near Liverpool, there's going to be no trains at central station anytime soon. A quick consultation with national Rail Enquiries tells me that if I change my route from Warrignton Central-York-Newcastle-Sunderland to Warrignton Bank Quay-Carlisle-Newcastle-Sunderland, I can get a train from Bank Quay station at 10.16 to get to sunderland at 2.19. By the time I find this out it's already 10.05, so I dash out of the station and headf for a taxi. Another guy says to me "you going to bank Quay", when i say "yes", he says "wanna share a taxi?" makes sense to me. A woman behind us asks if she can share the taxi too- two women further down the road are getting a taxi together to manchester- the taxi driver, after we tell him of our problems, doesn't actually charge us the £2 fare as we get to the doors of bank quay with about a mkinute to go. When we get to the platform, the guard, who was about to blow her whsitle, sees us running and waits til we get on the train.

See, even something like a cock-up on the trainlines can bring human kindness out.

Hey, London meet on Saturday, me and Alfredo marquex will be getting an insanely long coach ride down, hope I'll see many of you lot who are reading.

Anyone who is reading, are you planning to go to the pub or the museum for the afternoon get-together?

The pub of course smiley - ok

Only I'm not quite sure which pub it's supposed to be. It's either the Princess Louise or the Shakespeare's Head smiley - erm

I was under the impression it was the Shakespeare's HEad...

What time are you going to be in there. We should be there by about 3 I think, I'll have to wait for Alfredo to get online, he's got the coach tickets!

Egon,

We get to Victoria coach station at 2.20 providing that we run to time so I think somewhere around 3 in the pub sounds reasonable!!!

I don't really know, I was going to amble up to London at some point in the afternoon.

You do know I'm passing up the opportunity of sitting on an open terrace in some dire North Kent port to go to this meet, don't you.

Alfredo- very vague. Are you anticipating a mad dash across town as well, or have you just not decided when to leave yet?

GD- who are the blades playing this weekend then?
