Vidmaster - A Pebble in the Pond

Bah. Having girl related problems, and becoming somewhat depressed over it.

The story is: There's a girl I really like, but she likes another guy. The other guy doesn't like her, at least not in terms of going out. The girl has ignored all my attempts to go out or start a relationship, and I am becoming extremely frustrated. The thing that made me the most depressed was seeing her sitting on the boy's lap in a club the three of us have together.

Any advice at all would be appreciated.

Well, I haven't any advice, as I was generally in your position, and never did get the guys I really liked to go out with me (ignore the fact that I'm married, for now, OK? Different circumstances...) But I thought it might at least help a little if you knew this had been seen...

This is a tough one...

I can't offer much advice either, being a bachelor and determined to stay. Maybe that is the best advice I can give you, though--staying away from girls, at least romantically. The way I see it, there isn't much advantage to having a girlfriend over having a female friend. The basic need in a romantic relationship is companionship, and romance isn't required for that. It only is if you want smiley - kisses and such--and maybe you do. I just know that the bachelor method works for me.

You've got a whole life ahead of you... maybe she's not the one you should spend you *entire* life with... or vice versa... Rarely does HS dating work anyway...

peace.

The guys are mostly right... Though Ex Libris is a *little* young to offer much love advice, I'd think... (Sorry, Ex L) Don't worry too much about finding Miss Right right now, Vidmaster... I diddn't have a boyfriend until I was 18 (he was a jerk, but never mind that...) and I met Tom when I was 21...

That said, I know somewhat how you feel (as much as crosses gender lines) since I was very interested in several guys (one at a time, though) before I snagged one (the jerk mentioned above). Just give it time... You're young yetsmiley - hug

I think I'm mostly looking for companionship. I understand that HS relationships don't go well, and I doubt that she is the "right one for me," but she's nice, and I enjoy spending time with her. The reason I'm seeking to start a relationship is, well, I just realized that I don't really know. But I think it might be fun.

Well, then, go for the friendship, and if anything develops, great, and if not, then great, too...

The problem is that we already are friends. I suppose I'd primarily like to spend some more time with her, as we only really see each other at school, and that's usually not for a very long time - only about 20 minutes at the most.

Hmm... Well, I'm not the best at advice, but try seeing if she'd be interested in hanging out... Maybe with a bunch of other friends, so that it doesn't seem like a date... I don't know--I'm not good at deepening friendships (IRL, anyway)
