Hmmm... ok... maybe he would declare the cross bar offside and disallow the goal. smiley - winkeye (or maybe not...)

Would the ref decide it was stupid to allow such a freak goal and just tell the goalie to take it again?

May i ask where you got the information you are basing your answer on, and how reliable it is, and how much personal opinion is involved?

Ah, but you didn't say where you got these "offical rules". There are plenty of book, websites, people etc. who claim to have the official rules, but they aren't all that reliable.

Free corner?

Spook's Cool Quiz

Tango

I wouldn't understand why... the ball crossed the line inside the goal, a corner wouldn't make sense...

you are correct rimmer!

it would also be a corner if the goalkeeper just turned around and kicked the ball in the net. it may seem like a strange rule, but it makes sense when you realise that a goal kick is classed as an indirect free kick, so a goal cannot come from the actul kick itself, but since the ball goes off field when it enters to goal a corner is given.

if the bal had just gone straight in the opposite net from a free kick without touching anyone then it would be a goal kick for the opposing team. make sense now? good!smiley - smiley

Hmmm... i guess there is some logic in there somewhere... i guess i needed to know that a goal kick counted as indirect, which i didn't.
