Critical thinking, well, according to the teachers, it teaches you to "Think Critically", to assess arguments and look for bias or inaccuracy in various forms of material, as well as spot when various medias are trying to manipulate you or your perception of something.
in PRACTICE, it involves being sat in a room either with some insane teacher who has been obsessed with sharks since he was a child and watching videos about sharks and making observations of the obvious (not so bad,) or, being locked in a south-facing room with windows that hardly open on a hot day 
late on a Friday with the incredibly BORING headmaster which he argues with one member of the class and they drift further and further and further and further from the topic, and you get more and more and more .... anyway, you get the message
