Marjin, After a long time of procrastination back lurking

Alea Iacta Est, The Die is Cast.
Two real estate agents have looked at our house, and in a few days we will decide who will get the job of selling the house we called home for 25 years.

Now the kids are big enough to leave home, we can get back to the part of the country we both grew up, we only have to find a new house first, but that should not be a large problem.

The expected timescale: april: a few days holiday, june: our son moves in with his gf, july: four days marches in Nijmegen for the fifth time, august/september getting the key of the new house, a possible internetless interludesmiley - yuk, september/october delivering the keys of our current home.

It will be busy and interesting timessmiley - smiley

Still a long way to.
Today I told one of our neighbours we are going to leave. He seemed flabbergasted, the others knew it already.
We just did not want them to find out by suddenly seeing a sign in the garden.

Tuesday we looked at a sweet little home we might want to buy, but there are others looking at it too. Wait and see.

We got itsmiley - biggrin

For two days we have been bidding by email, we going up, they going down until this afternoon we accepted their offer.
So unless our last mail somehow gets lost, we have a new house in a little village called Oosterbeek near Arnhem.
For those with some historical knowledge, right in the middle of the Market Garden areasmiley - mod.

Next week we expect the first possible buyers to have a look at our current house.
Never thought it would go that fast.

Today we reached agreement for the sale of our house!

So unless they cannot get a mortgage, or research finds our home a ruin, they will get the key early in september, while we will get the key of our new home end of july.

A few weeks biting our nails...

Hati, thanks for the offer, but keep them for yourself.
Our movers want to use their own boxes, and we rather eat the bananas than move them in a boxsmiley - winkeye

A long proces is not too bad, as long as you are not stuck with two houses at the same time.
I saw two people have a very bad time, as they had moved into their new home, already two months late, and the old home empty for half a yearsmiley - sadface
We were considering that house too, but our current one seemed (and is of coursesmiley - whistle) much better.

You live in a lovely house indeed. smiley - ok

Two houses won't be an option anyway. The problem may be that I'll have to move out without having the new place to move in. It will be a flat anyway, I can't afford another house. This house is sold and smiley - 2cents are waiting on my bank account. smiley - winkeye
