We're seriously considering flying to New York in July, staying for three days and doing the sights, then sailing back on the new QM2. I've never cruised before. It'll be a bit of a stretch financially, but it is wonderfully exciting. I'll need to pack a ball gown!

Oh, does Fragilis live in New York? I'll wave to her from the top of the Empire State Building. I wonder which direction I'll need to wave in?

She has posted more than most about her private life.
Things seem to be pretty much going her way. You can begin by checking her home page, and use the links to get more pictoral and location info; but I suspect that Southwest would do for the wave

Hello, Zarquon. If you do visit, there are two directions you might wave. If you're at the Empire State Building on a work day, wave east. I'll be at 50th street in Manhattan, not far from you at all.
If you're waving in the evening or on a weekend, wave south. I commute to work from Brooklyn, which lies just below the island of Manhattan. I live about 30 minutes south of the Empire State Building via subway.

Fragilis,
We will all give you a wave! At the moment I don't know whether it will be a weekday or a weekend, although the likelihood is that it will be on a weekend.
At the moment I'm looking to find a reasonably priced hotel for all three of us. If you have any thoughts on this, I would really like to hear them.

Yes, I'm really looking forward to it. For me, it will be almost the holiday of a lifetime (so far that title belongs to the trip to Tanzania when I was 19). It sounds so *elegant*.
I confess to being a little worried about the financial stretch, however my friends have all said that it's about time after years of camping - it's about time I had a real treat. I've told little about it - I don't think he can quite visualise it at the moment, so he's not that excited. It does mean that we can't go camping this year, and he's sad about that, as there's a special friend he sees at the Trackways children's camp.

The Queen Mary 2! That's really exciting ZSF. It's one of those trips which people dream of doing.... good for you. What a shame that you can't do the air bit by Concorde these days...

Yes, Fb. I used to see it flying over Eltham regularly when I was going to pick up little from the pre-school. I would dearly have loved to have flown on it. However, it's not going to take the edge off my trip! Now this is a great motivation for getting fit and trim, eh?

Thanks, Fb. I've only just taken three of them to the charity shop, thinking I would never have the opportunity of wearing them. I've just one left - and I can't remember which!
