Not very interesting this one, unless of course you happen to be heading for France on your holidays.

One thing which might be interesting to comment on is the fact that so many of these are fairly specifically Catholic church holy days. Given how strict the French are about the separation of church and state, I think it's an interesting survival.

More to the point, the French love their time off work, most don't care about why there is a holiday, just that there is one!
(They've just gone across to working a maximum 35 hour week here)
I don't really want to get into that one, it'll just make me mad.

The bit at the end about the departments might look better in a footnote, but this was a good, comprehensive entry.
You might also want to include a link to National Celebrations at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A431821

Yeah odd I know.
Because I was thinking of reviving the old Tall Buildings project: A864650
And the text seems to have been cut and paste into your French Public Holidays entry: A615205
Strange but true.

erm...
Now why the heck did I do that????
(Must have been me - nobody else could have edited the entry)
I wonder If I was checking out some xml or something - presumably, from the fact the PR thread is attached to this entry, this was, originally, the unedited copy of my entry, and then I must have changed the text at some stage after the edited version got picked.
Personally, I blame premature senility!
