How can someone who got a degree from Oxford can be such a moron? Did he fail to understand that I wanted him home at a reasonable time today? I did tell him, and was mighty pissed off when he suggested coming home for 7 or 8pm. Was he too stupid to realise that slight thaw + after dark drop in temperature = icy roads? Or does he just not want to spend *any* time *at all* with his family?

Thanks fo rthe hugs, we are supposed to be meeting up with some of t'Boy's mates and their families today to see a stage production of One Snowy Night at 11. J reckons he is coming back on the train and bus this morning because he thinks it will still be too icy to drive. I've told him I'm not waiting for him, have been looking forward to this for about three months so the boys aren't going to miss out because he is such an idiot.
And because he hasn't been home to watch the boys I haven't had a chance to do much present shopping, so he will have the thing I ordered through amazon that I think is waiting at the sorting office, and nothing else. He's lucky to be getting that, frankly.

Make plans, inform him and invite him, but don't beg him to come. And stick to them.
I'd suggest sending him bills for babysitters, but that probably wouldn't work.

Well he made it home with half n hour to spare and we all went to the theatre together. I'm so glad he came home in time as he'd really have missed out on a treat if he hadn't.
I've decided that if he works away for a long period like that again I will use sitters more, expensive as they are, if I can get the boys to settle in bed properly.

If you get a good one they should do that for you. When I was babysitting it was considered part of the job, as the kids all wanted to stay up to see this new person anyway.
