I starte3d writing this: A14005405 in August 2006 then got overwhelmed. I split A16606451 as a separate entry but still feel the main entry would be a bit of a lump!
I haven't touched either for months, largely because I haven't known what to do with 'em.
Do you peeps think I should split 'em up into a Uni entry? I think it would make it less daunting for me to tackle and make for easier reading.

Yes it would be a good Uni entry providing.
Its not bogged down in to much tech spec.
It is clear and general as the PC spec and programms may alter rapidly'
Kept easy to edit to keep pace with advances'
Please include a what kit you need section'
What you have is good and you know the subject Is this scince or cultre. The hard thing is to avoid this becomeing a PC instruction manual.
My opionion is go for it...

Thanks peeps.
I'm trying to keep it as an 'I play something, I've got a PC, I want to record, what do I do?' thing without getting bogged down in technicalities. For example; a beginner wouldn't need to know about Nyquist rates but could benefit from knowing that sampling is, sort of, chopping sound up into bits so a computer understands it. That's the level I hope to maintain.
Blimey. It's stoll gonna' be a bit of work isn't it?

Do you spot anything that's missing? When you've been mucking about with stuff for years it's easy to miss the obvious (or not so obvious) in a kit list so I might have neglected something crucial!

Yes tho its easy to do the
PC
HDD size and spec
Processor speed
Ram type size
CD RW or DVD
Windows XP or what microsoft windows (can it be done on the Linux system)
Can it be done on Apple Mac or not,
That sort of thing

I deliberately avoided PC specs as they are so temporary, other than saying that I won't mention them as they are so temporary. If I'd mentioned a P4 when I started I would have to change it to a dual core now, and that's only six months down the line!
Re: operating systems. I'm trying to do the basics and anybody that's into Linux will have enough computing experience to know that I'm talking generically. I'll mention that this applies to Macs as well though.
I really am trying to do a very basic overview, but as it covers recording *and* computers there's a lot of overview to do! A lot will be missed but my intention is only to tell the people reading it how to get a song from their head & fingers into a PC (and a Mac is a Personal Computer) and out the other end.

Ok explaned, so then ask advise from your local pc vendor will be all you need, good idea...
This is going to be a good entry, good luck it will be a mound of work but worth all the toil.
