i'm a final year undergraduate, i don't know if that counts as 'proper'...
rsa is complicated unless you're happy with modular arithmetic (basically division with remainders, sometimes called clock arithmetc ie 0=0 mod12, 1=1 mod12, 2=2 mod12,..., 12=0 mod12, 13=1 mod12, 14=2 mod12,..., 24=0 mod12, 25=1 mod12,...)
