Project Name: The Ultimate Guide to Doctor Who
I want to cover Doctor Who and many different parts of the television series.
I intend to cover some of the main Enemies of Doctor Who, the spin off series, the Doctor himself, and any other things I manage to do in the 6 weeks. The ones mentioned are my main aims.
Title Entries:
What is Doctor Who?
The True Doctor Who
Doctor Who Enemies
Doctor Who Enemies: Daleks
Doctor Who Enemies: Cybermen
Doctor Who Enemies: Silurians and Sea Devils
Doctor Who Enemies: Davros
Doctor Who Enemies: The Master
K9 and Company
Depending on whether I have time I may do more.
Start Date: 1st Febuary 2001
End Date: 15th March 2001
I do not yet have a Sub-Editor so if one could be arranged for me I would be grateful.

Hi Spook,
I like the idea for your project (being a bit of a fan myself), but there is already quite a large amount of information on Doctor Who in the Edited Guide:
A215993 The Who's Who of Doctor Who
A356825 The Lost Episodes of 'Doctor Who' - the TV Series
A395723 Daleks
and also your own entry, which has just been accepted for Subbing:
A662960 Doctor Who Episode Guide
Of course, there's nothing to stop you from writing more Dr. Who entries, and linking them all into your Edited one...

My aim for the project is mainly to make entries on Doctor Who that haven't been included in the edited guide. I will be looking at the edited entries on Doctor Who that are already in the guide, and making sure I don't do anything too similar. For things like Daleks that is already in the edited guide, I may have a more in depth look at them, maybe seperating them up in to 2 entrie : The Early Years and The Davros Years. There is a lot of flexability with it all, and as I stated in the project title, I want to create The Ultimate Guide to Doctor Who.

Erm.. Excuse me.. the 'Dr Who' thing caught my attention while I was walking past and.. erm... One thing I might point out if I may? I think maybe you should change the start/stop dates on your proposal.. otherwise you're quite late in turning in your assignment already.

I've put them then, simply because Christmas is coming up and I know I've got a large amount of coursework to do in January., so I thought I'd start it after that. Depending on coursework deadlines I may bring the dates forward, but I won't know until after Christmas.

That's fine, then - if you can steer a good course around the existing material, linking to it as much as you like, of course, that's perfectly acceptable.
Go for it.

18 months for a project seems a bit long, Spook, especially as the deadlines seem to have slipped and slipped each time you've set them.
How much have you done already on this (as opposed to how much your collaborators have done)? Are there enough entries to put through as one project, leaving you free to complete an additional project on the same subject with the entries you're waiting for?
Not that I'm contemplating putting my own contribution through Peer Review instead or anything...

basically, so far i've written one entry and you've written an entry. my friend, who has had an operation so is full of free time, is writting loads about all the bad guys, mostly from his head. I'm basically taking what he's one, going through, adding a few things, making sure everything is correct, then adding them to h2g2. the last time i saw him he'd done 19 word pages on the Daleks.
ove the sumer, basically once i've finished my exams in June, i'm going to be writing a few entries about things like the Doctor Who Movies. Some people have volunteered to ddo a couple of entries on the Doctors as well so i'll see about getting that done.
It may be taking a while Jumster, but if you consider the year i had last year with my mum having cancer, and coursework and things, i never had the time to finish it, somehting i was hoping to do last summer.
i'm hoping to finish it this summer, but i'm also trying to live up to the title, and i want this to really be the ultimate guide to Doctor Who, leaving anyone who reads the project as an expert.
something i don't have any entries though is the latest internet BBC stories, or anything really on Doctor Who away from the TV series. if you'd like to write about anything there or know a few people that may be interested,...

I appreciate you've had a difficult time recently Spook, although I hadn't realised that you'd only written one entry for this yourself. What I was really getting at is that this might be too ambitious a project to attempt in one go. Have you seen Outpost Gallifrey (http://www.gallifreyone.com/reference.htm)?
Incidentally, why isn't your friend doing this on h2g2 him/herself? Seems a bit mean someone else doing the work and you getting the badge

U186831 - CYBERHUMAN. he doesn't have an internet connection at home and is disabled and has recently had an operation on his leg.
i'm not being mean cause he enjoys writing about Doctor Who, and knows practially everything in his head. When i have the finished entries in the summer i'm going to put them on to h2g2, check them, correct certain things, seperate some, then i'm gonna get the group to check over all the entries before i consider them complete.
he is basically doing most of the entries on the Doctor Who Enemies. I'll be doing most of the others on the very long list. i've only done 1 so far, but then there are only 2 complete entries so far. all my mates are still being written and formatted, and mine are still to be written. A lot of entries will appear over the summer.
I don't think it's too ambigious. i called it ultimate for a reason, although i never planned the amount of entries i have now, but with my friend writing never ending entries on Doctor Who Enemies, the other entries i planned to do originally, and other entries people want to do, the project has just grown.

ps. if this post doesn't flow, it's because i wrote it, then added some stuff in in different places.
