Sorry, just had to add to the general vile little titles your message center accumulates.

Thought I'd drop you a line, as I think you are really the only BoE member I don't correspond with in some kind of fashion (other than the actual BoE). How are you doing? What is new with you? Are you out of school yet, or working or what?

I'm being terribly nosey, I know. I don't care. It's noon on my one day without job interviews, and I'm being very bored.

I just got a call from one of my best friends telling me she may go to school in the UK and would I want to come visit her and tour around during her break? I like that idea very much... maybe I can finally settle the age old feud over whether my family is Irish or Scottish, and then neglect to tell everyone because they will believe what they want anyway.

Ach, thanks. I think the latest one was actually 'Ah, my darling', but apart from that they do all seem rather nasty.

I'm at home at the moment, not working yet because I haven't let my employers know I'm back from Europe. Last year of college begins near the end of this month, and to make things more stressful than usual I don't have any accomodation and the guy I thought I was sharing with has been accepted to a college accomodation thing, so I may end up looking for a place on my own. Balls!

What's your surname? If it begins with a Mac-, I'd say just run with the Scottish thing.

It's McKinney, actually... I'm sure we were Northern Ireland or Southern Scotland, or both... doesn't really matter to me. We're also English and Russian, so I'm pretty much an American mutt however you cut it.

Looking for flats is rough, especially on your own. I was lucky to have some friends to move in with to start me in my new digs, but eventually I'd like to not be living with married people... it's very strange. I'm pretty sure that I either want to live on my onesies, or with guys... I lived with three women for the last year, and decided I can never do that again.

What are you majoring in at college?

I've been doing English and History, and this year I drop the History. College starts around the 11th of October so I have time before I need to go, but all the other colleges start earlier so places get scarce. This evening I have to call all my college buddies to see if anyone else is either looking for a place or has one to share - I'd rather not live on my own, knowing as I do the unhealthy habits I can get into. I was in college accomodation for first and second year, then rented a nasty little dump last year.

What are you going to do with that degree?

I'm better off not living alone, although I think I might for a while... I crave solitude a bit right now. But usually when I live with people I don't smoke, but I do when left to my own devices... just live on coffee and cigarettes and write all day... terribly unhealthy.

Sounds rotten alright - although I could go for the 'writing all day' part. I have terrible trouble beginning things, I'm expert at distracting myself. I'm not sure about what I'll do with my degree - if you get a good one, it opens up a lot of opportunities, if you don't there's still jobs to be had in the general media-skivvy area, or so I'm told. Really, I'd like to take a year out then do a Masters in something.

News! from the accomodation front. I may be able to move in with two girls I know from last year, who have a lovely roomy apartment. I got in touch with one today (through Bebo! paragon of websites!) and she said it should be alright. This would save me from having to go up and trek miserably around Dublin competing for an apartment with every other college student - our CAO exam results and college offers just came out last week, so the accomodation market is crazy right now.

Congrats! Although I don't envy you living with two women (wait until PMS week, and you'll know why), I'm glad you have somewhere to go.

I had a long day of movies, cooking, cocktails, and being a lazy bum. I need to go be active. Although, go see The Illusionist as soon as you can... really entertaining.
