Well I am playing with my linux again ...

I have found a nice program that highlights both php and html at the same time, and installed it, quanta, thenhad fun trying to install tidy, cos thats what it wanted. I eventually found an rpm for it smiley - smiley

I have figured out how to use the ftp from the command line.

What I havn't fixed is the sound ... seems that only one program can output its sound at a time, and other sounds jsut queue themelves up for when the current sound has fnished, not good when listening to music.

Have seacrched google a litte, but im not exactly clear what it is that i need to do to let it manage its sounds better.

Just thought I would drop in and give my current status given that I started this thread.

I ditched fedora and installed slackware, and havn't looked back since. I actully found slackware alot easier to use than fedora, as I just looked in the slackware book or at a forum and any question I had was already answered.

I now do everything in linux except for one thing. Play my windows games. I gave a go with Wine and such, and even got some of them running. However even if they do work they don't run as well as the do under windows. So windows programs for windows linux programs for linux. Of which I don't find myself lacking any programs in linux.

The scary thing is those things that are mentioned on the previous page, I understand what most of them mean.

Peet (the Pedantic Punctuation Policeman, Muse of Lateral Programming Ideas, Eggcups-Spurtle-and-Spoonswinner, BBC Cheese Namer & Zaphodista)

For video, I've had good results with VLC. It can co-exist with Totem, so when you right click you get the option of which one you want to use to open a media file.
