Now I got yet another problem, it's cool that I am the only one with problems: but I have a fixed element in my web page, that unexpectedly disappears in some browsers on a re-sized page.
This is not good, how do I fix this?

I don't have time to investigate this just now, but I would suggest you Google "Netscape resize fix" - it's a single line of Javascript that makes a page redraw every time it is resized, and that should fix any problem like this. (It's called the "Netscape" resize fix because it was originally to fix tables that didn't resize in NS4 when the page was resized)
