Yes it's that time of year. How are the SRG spending Burns night?

I have a veggie haggis ready with neeps and tatties for this evening. But I'm heading out for a gathering of a Burns Supper on Saturday night.

The Dreadfuls will be spending it amid the chaos that is our soon-to-be-ex-home. Naturally we shall be having haggis, neeps and tatties for tea.

Did mine on Sunday - haggis-stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon with whisky sauce. One day I'll get it right

Haggis-stuffed chicken breast? What devilry is this?!

Demon Drawer Posted Jan 25, 2007
I think the poor chicken must have been hungry and eaten one of the poor haggi that where running wild around its coop.

DaveBlackeye Posted Jan 25, 2007
You soak the chicken in the whisky until its blind drunk, and then the haggis crawls inside to keep warm.

Had Haggis, tatties and Neeps for lunch at work today.. Which means it'll probably be Haggis Lasagna at the canteen tomorrow... Which isn't too bad, actually.
Not as good as the sirloin steaks with the pepper sauce they're service tomorrow, but still not too shabby.

There was Haggis, neeps and Tatties in my work canteen as well today. We move to the other location in just the right week. However, as I'm having the same meal later in the day I passed.

Blimey what great canteens you all have!
Might pop into Sainsburys on the way home - I had a "proper" Burns supper last year, but hadn't got as far as planning anything this year. Yet.

Not that great a canteen to be honest.. It's just that they splash out a bit on Fridays..
Standard menu on Fridays consist of:
1. Breaded Haddock and chips
2. Chicken Madras with rice
3. Sirloin Steak with random accompanyment (which usually means pepper sauce every second Friday and "Garni" every other second Friday)..
Then some Veggie option, some soup and choice of chicken, veggie, or beef burgers.

I took a 5 hour drive to Gibraltar on Sunday, just to pick up a haggis and a neep and then the same drive back! Now there's devotion for you! Tatties are easy enough to get here.
For whisky, there's a couple of swallies left in a bottle of Highland Park, left from December when Daddy dearest visited.
Have a good'un chaps and chapesses.
