Apparition™ (Mourning Empty the best uncle anyone could wish for)

The weather here brought down my phone line in the wee small hours of last Friday and by great surprise Telecom had it re attached by 1:30pm that same day. That was only a temporary fix though as there is a rather large tree in the way.

No problem, just cut off a few branches? not so simple. It's a neibour tree that is on communal land with at least 5 owners.

I sort of have telephone use and now internet dial-up. I didn't realise how much I used it 'till it was gone. Kind of the opposite of mt PC's floppy drive.

Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Oh, trees and phone lines. We could face something similar soon, smiley - grr and I have begged the landlord for help! Still I'm glad you've got yours back, however temporarily...

and it's still not been trimmed smiley - grr. It's been almost a week without web access at home and my main email account is building up 155 spam messages a day.

Oh, my hat! 155! I thought mine was bad.
(Mrs Next-door's grandson did one of the trees the other day, and I haven't even met him! She told him I wanted it done and he just did it, it seems. What a nice guy!)

Some people have all the luck. Hold on I'll call home...

...Cr@p it's still not trimmed but apparently the council person was under the impression it had been done and he's see "the person" about it.

Oh, isn't it typical - they always think someone else has already done what hasn't been done! Fume. We still have a massive puddle at the end of our front steps, and I thought they'd do something when I heard that other people in other streets were affected. But - whaddaya know? Nothing so far... smiley - grr

The main problem is people passing it off Telecom pass to the land owners who pass it to each other who pass it to the power company who won't have a bar of it and the council and we pass it to a council who seem to be the only one willing to do anything.

Being that it's on our neihour's land, we can only get angry at people about it.

That must be so frustrating! Are your neighbours amenable to reason?

Our landlord who is also a neibour is very nice but he's just one of the people who own the area that the tree is on.

You're right it is fustrating and today is friday and I need web access back.

I would be going spare! At least you can get on at work, though I know that's not much help.
(BTW, batten down the hatches, according to the radio, the Coromandel and BOP are in for more...loud sigh)

We called the power company yesterday and told the it was a danger to power lines, which according to the telecom tech it is.

They're sending someone today to look. We don't want our power cut off but It might be the only thing that will get these people moving.
