Apparition™ (Mourning Empty the best uncle anyone could wish for)

Two days ago in Victoria University, the US ambassador was shouted down by students untill he abandoned his intended speech [read: swipe at government]. TV cameras showed a US flag being burnt in the parking lot.

I could not find any links but I was lucky that I have a friend in Hong Kong who had read the stories.

The US wants us to revise the no nuke stance. Rightwing political parties want us to bend over and grab our ankles for the every whim of anoth country.

I find myself not only dissagreeing with the right wing in NZ but also finding that I have not even the slighest respect for them what so ever.

Exactly, Apparition! We cheered the students when we saw it on TV. I have heard on the news (radio and TV) and seen Bill English in the paper talking about how the US Ambassador wanted to advise us for our own good. Yeah, sure.
There was only ever going to be 0% chance of a 'free trade deal'. Bill, it's over.let it go. smiley - peacedove

As the green co leader said. It's US farmer lobbying that prevents free trade (we're more efficent than they are) and we're never getting an agreement.

It's just a carrot. Remember before the war when the US embassy and helen were at odds? National party ministers were having meetings there through out.

Odd thing is. I think Rod Donald makes to most sense of anyone in government. I may change my party vote, my MP vote will continue to go to steve chadwick.

When the Alliance blew up last election, I voted Green/Helen (she's my electorate MP, and Grath actually worked on her campaign one year.)
Did you notice that the very thing Helen said (that the Iraq war would not have happened if Al Gore had won) was said a in September by Madeline Allbright, and *no one cared*? I should say, the media did their best to ignore it, but for Ana Samways in the Herald who thought it was almost amusing that Madeline Allbright said what Helen had said and been punished for! smiley - aliensmile

Garth liked her in the late 80s when no one wanted to vote labour. Is that when you mean?

No, he actually worked on her campaign staff in 1993! In the 1980s, he supported National, believe it or not...smiley - weird

Garth tells me that it was only on the early '80s that he voted National. He's basically been a Labour supporter ever since.

Apart from a few momentary mental abberations - like legalising prostitution and ending appeals to the Privy Council - Helen's Labour party has been (and still are) the best choice to govern New Zealand. Remember - nobody's perfect.

Proof of that comes in the fact that Helen's detractors have to resort to trifling detail, personal attacks and outright lies to criticize her. Showing that they don't really have adequate amunition.

National is going down in a screaming heap. For that reason I hope the Bill retains control smiley - evilgrin

Hi, Williamsmiley - laugh I hear the lesbian/spinster tag applied to Helen all the time - also 'childless'. Which has got absolutely nothing to do with her skills as apolitician!
Re Garth - he just changed, Apparition, came to his senses maybe? Do you know him, Empty?

OOh, yes! She's rogering the NHS in the UK at the moment, or was attempting to, last I heard.
Then there's Winnie (Jean Marie le Pen) Peters...
