A Conversation for Calculating the Day of the Week

Never having got on with numbers I was delighted that I could make this equation work. That is, except when it comes to my own birthday and I consistently discover that I am born on a thursday when a calendar tells me that I am, in fact, born on a tuesday.
But I can't see what I am doing wrong: 13 Jan 1976...
The century (19) will come to minus 35.
The year: 76*5=380/4=95 So 95 added to minus 35, I get 60
The month: in this equation Jan is 13 (+1) so 14*26=364/10=36, running total, then, is 96.
The day: 13+96=109
Dividing the total by 7 I get 15 (i.e 7*15=105) with a remainder of 4. And 4 means I am born on thursday, but the calendars say tuesday.
Can anyone explain where I am going wrong please? I would love to know, even if it means exposing my appalling maths!

Hi Oscarella
In your case, you were born in the thirteenth month of 1975, not 1976.
Step 1: -35
Step 2: 75*5/4 = 93
Step 3: 36
Step 4: 13
Total: 107
107/7 = 15 remainder 2
2 -> Tuesday
Hope this helps!
