You need to shout. 'BO' (with a lot of emphasis on the 'B') then roll the 'R' and extend the 'TH'

Hence *B*o~r~r~r~rhhhhhhhhhh.

Nos da,

Jake.

is that because of a (relatively) prosaic reason, like because all the tourists have gone home and the waves are bigger, or is there something arcane and exciting going on there then like witchy dancing and covening or something?

just curious

smiley - silly when all the leaves fall smiley - silly

It's fun all year round though, except perhaps if there's stormy weather at either the spring or autumn equinox. The waves have been know to break through the sea wall smiley - yikes

cool!

i don't think the trees i was talking about have had leaves for a very long time now - they look like rocks or oil, and have a bizarre texture underfoot, and they freak my children out.

I did know how long they'd been underwater, but can't quite remember. I'm going home in a couple of weeks, I'll find out.

is it an in-living-memory sort of thing, or older? tales of cantre'r gwaelod spring to mind.....

Much older, they've been carbon dated I believe, all though I prefer the cantre'r gwaelod theory myself smiley - smiley

Hi there,

Was there any conclusion to the 'Age of the Tree's' question. As a new resident of Borth I have been pondering on this also. What intrigues me is why they are still where they are - the amount of sand shift on that beach is huge. Ynyslas is worse - almost a different shape every day.

smiley - bleep I made a note of it when I was last down, a few weeks ago & now I can't find it, when Grandad rings later I'll ask him smiley - smiley.

Hi Goatboater, whereabouts in Borth are you? BTW if you pop into the Tourist Information Office, immediately to your left as you go through the door there's some pictures taken earlier this year & some info on the sunken forest smiley - ok. While you're there, could you do me a favour & pop into the hotel on the opposite corner & find out if they're open all year round? We'll be down again shortly after Xmas, do you fancy a mini-meet? smiley - cheers

Hi Granny,

Ta for the info. I shall dive into the TI as you suggested and get more details - I actually only descovered the trees back in about March when a picture of them turned up in a National Photographic mag, I thought they looked amazing and was slighly surprised to see the word 'Borth' in the caption.

I shall grab the Hotel details for you and send them on. I am actually away from about the 22th of Dec to Jan 19th, but if your visit is outside these times I am always willing to be dragged of for a pint.

smiley - cheers I'll let you know, it's likely to be a last minute thing, depending on the weather. I don't think any of my relatives are throwing parties this winter so we'll just be down for the bird watching, over to Ynys 'hir and Bwlch Nant yr Arian.
