This happened a couple of days ago..
Myself and about eight others were in a meeting at work. one guy was working from home that day, so he telephoned in.
About half way through the meeting, something happened and the line sort of went dead. There was a recorded announcement that said "please hold the line".
So, I reached out and grabbed hold of the cord for the phone! Several of my colleagues just shook their heads and buried them in their hands.

I was on the phone the other day and an object I needed to refer to was just out of reach, so I sat the receiver (of the corded phone) on a nearby table.
The coiled cord promptly pulled the receiver off the table and onto the floor.
In horror, I ran to the receiver, picked it up off the floor and asked with deep concern, "Are you alright"?
