h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

My good friend poured me a generous amount of aquavit in a whisky glass. First time we have tried it. I had two glasses and felt o.k. Along with a few bottles of wine. I felt none the worse for wear. In the morning I had a raging thirst and drank two bottles of water. After that I felt drunk and had a hangover. Very unusual for me.
Someone told me that drinking water after drinking aquavit is potent or is someone pulling my leg?
