I hitch-hiked once from Coventry to Bristol - it was some time in the 70s I recall - and it took me exactly 42 hours. And this was ages before that Adams fellow got the idea... I had to sleep under at least two (2) hedges, which you won't find nowadays since the fields have been extended and given over to rape. Quite appropriate, really...
