I like the idea that 'sprouts' are named after roses in German. Now Bruxelles is the vegatable, well done, and your fruit has an English connection coming into season soon.

That could be many fruits; apples, pears, oranges, grapes, grapefruits.

We have another expression for Kartoffel (potato) here: Erdapfel (earth apple), but
a) you don't have this name
and
b) it's another veg.

Is grape a location?

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

As an aside, the Magwitch household use the one fingered salute for 'sprouts', which camw about as a result of (a rather sloshed Magwitch) having a digit malfunction when asked by her boys to list the veg they would have be having for Sunday Lunch the following day. smiley - silly

My five year old still uses it smiley - erm

<> could prove tricky at times.

Erdapfel (earth apple) now drop the 'earth' you are looking for a connection with an English apple, a bit unfair I guess- language wise, but I'll guide you in.

Clues - Brussels, yes - now where might you find a statue?

Icy mentioned that there is more than one Peter Pan statue. They are a substantial bronzes unlike the Mannequin Pis which is diminutive and really just a little thing.smiley - laugh

I know. The mannequin pis has a really little thing. A load of fuss about not very much indeed. Possibly qualifies as the world's most disappointing tourist attraction.

Er...it's the only statue I know in Brussel/Bruxelles, though. Habven't been there for 23 years.

There is a Peter Pan statue ,one of several and after World War I Frampton, the original sculptor, gave a copy to Belgium as a war memorial in 1924. It bears an inscription in Flemish that reads: "A bond of friendship between the children of Great Britain and the children of Belgium."

Frampton visited the ruins of the Loncin fort near Liège just after WWI and saw how the people had suffered. Originally The statue was going to be placed in the Square Marie-Louise near the Gare du Nord, but it was actually placed in a quiet spot - so quite few know of its existence.

Its exact location is the fruit clue which you now know is an English apple.

Out of my depth - I had to trawl through pages of Google (is that outside the rules?) but I have the E. Russet apple link. Barely deserve a point, since everyone else did the hard work!

Bows to all others & withdraws into a quite quiet corner!

Well done Egmont Gardens, Brussels being the location of the lost, nearly true, boy. The strange thing is we were given a trip to Brussells, a very underrated city, and spent a couple of days in London first. We had a good look at the Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens and whilst on one of our, now lets see where that goes walks, susequently in Brussells found Egmont Gardens and the lost boy in sad condition and lurking seemingly unnoticed.
