it's odd - despite their origins in mythology and their brilliant invention, they've now become incredibly crazy - there's huge variety in how they work. Why? They come in all different colours - the lamppost outside my window is orange with a definite pinkish lean. And what's with all the jokes? Are they really that funny? Still?

I don't think they were ever that funny, especially when they blow late at night & you can't find a replacement. My current favourite is the streetlight by my house that shines an unusual shade of peach. Most disconcerting, but quite attractive, if you like that sort of thing.
