A Conversation for Previous Topics of the Week

Seaside topic request...

Peta and I were talking somewhere about fun sand sculptures she and her family made at the seaside and I tried one out last week when I was at the beach and it was a *huge* hit.

We also built the standard sand castles with the kids, but my wife (who is the family artist) made a really cool sleeping dragon and I covered my youngest daughter's legs with sand and sculpted it into a fish's body so she looked like a mermaid.

All really good fun...

And it got me thinking that this might be a fun Collaborative Topic of the Week - 'Sand Sculptures' sort of an entry on how to do it and what cool designs our Researchers have made.

Oh, and I nearly forgot...

SEF has found some really cool artwork to go along with this idea.

Oops, since I'm being implicated I'd better point out that they are someone's photos rather than artwork (though that should be obvious if viewed smiley - winkeye).

I really like this for a Collaborative topic idea smiley - ok

Can I ask which entries those blobs accompany? I really can't recall them being on h2g2...

smiley - erm Sorry, I've no idea of A-numbers (and you've no idea how long it took me to be able to get back in and post that! smiley - cross). When I started collecting blob numbers I didn't pay any attention to their original A-numbers. I've only just started remedying that lack by adding the info to my list whenever I do find what I think is the original page. However, while doing a search for sand etc I did find A458318 Sandcastles by Gnomon and of course some edited things like A352522 on burying oneself in sand.

I think these blobs may have been used on other DNA sites...

Quite possible. 360 has reused a lot of h2g2 blobs and h2g2 people have been using the 360 angels. I doubt that sand sculpture would make much of an appearance on Buffy (cult) and ww2 is too new, so that narrows things down a bit! smiley - biggrin
