Nice new digs!
*walks around checking out the furnature and nibbling the candies*
I'll hang out here just fine. Yes I will.
*sits down and waits for the rest of the posse*

*noses around*
Hmm, yes...yes.
Hmm.
Where are the snacks? Can I have a snack? And I hope the posse leaves the horses and the dust and ropes and general cowboy-ness outside.

Okay, but can we keep the boots? And the jingly bits like belts and things because I really like the boots.
Fweee ooo fweee ooo... *jingle* *jingle*
I love that bit.
*pokes around looking for snacks*

*Brings in a tray of oreos while wearing a cowboy hat*
Ooooh. Yes, you're right, Krissy, this IS a good place to hang out.
*fluffs cushions and re-arrainges magazines*
So, how's CHRIS doing, then? First day and all? Is he all happy and stuff?

Cheezdanish, Slacker Princess Posted Jul 2, 2001
Ooooh. Is it one of those that goes straight up and down and the keys are the sides? Those are pretty nifty....
*gives CHRIS an oreo*
Have fun at, "work," you lucky thing, you.

* takes comfort from the ergonomic keyboard discomfort *
They're not so bad Chris, I'm using one right now! I just wish _I_ got one at work. I wonder what my boss would say if I took my keyboard with me every day...

Spartus Posted Jul 2, 2001
At an old job, I had two different computers that I had to work on. One was "mine", and the other one had all the cool stuff hooked on to it--scanner, color laser, the label printer--and that one had an ergonomic keyboard. I only used it about 10% of the time, if that, but while I never really disliked it, I never really....liked it either. The problem is that they encourage proper typing--right fingers in the right spots and all that. Unfortunately, I have some bad habits--hitting the "T" key with my right index finger, for one--which ergonomic keyboards do not, probably for the best, let you do.
You'll be fine in about two days, though. Probably.

Took me about a week to get used to mine, and I'm glad I got it. When I started work and had to use a normal keyboard during the day, it took me about three days to get used to switching back and forth. That was more frustrating than the initial period of getting used to the ergonomic keyboard!

Actually, I'm getting used to it pretty quickly, although I'll need to replace the Backspace key quite regularly... The hard thing is trying not to look at the keyboard while typing. Maybe I should do one of those typing tutor things.
Ohmygod! My name's in italics! Aargh!
It's slowly beginning to dawn on me how cool this job is. Now to hang about a bit at Floor42, as I'm *suppsed* to.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Oreos. Got any custard to go with those?

I'm a bit late, and all I have is a hat fashioned out of newspaper to make you look more official... I hope it will do.
Good jod (again), Chris!

The easiest way to get used to not looking at the keyboard is have people standing behind you pestering you while you are trying to post to h2g2. Then you soon get used to looking at them while typing. I don't have to look at the keyboard if I concentrate hard enough, but I do have to look at the monitor to check that I'n not makng too many mistakes.
And my keys keep stopping working, so it saves me time if I can see which ones have given up the ghost as I go.
Hmmmmm, indeed...

*wonders how one becomes a muse of bondage, exactly*
Sorry...carry on...

I'm not really here Posted Jul 11, 2001
Very simply.
Having chatted on ICQ with my good friend AGB, she knows all my interests. When Dragonfly came up with the Muses, AGB suggested I apply for Muse of Bondage. So you can guess what we had been talking about. And blame her!

* arranges for leather and whips to be delivered to Mina's, signed as from Smiley Ben (remember last year's Christmas meet?) *
Yes Mina, that's a good way to stop looking at the keyboard I guess... I find looking at the screen to be tremendously helpful as mistakes can be corrected before anyone notices them, which is good!

I'm not really here Posted Jul 11, 2001
Ohh, pressies!! 'll look out for those.
I did miss Smiley Ben. Although I doubt 100WW would have let him get away with it this time.
Hmmmmm, indeed...
MaW Posted Jul 11, 2001
Oh I don't know Mina... you have this effect on people, you know?
Or then again, it might be the alcohol...
Hmmmmm, indeed...
MaW Posted Jul 11, 2001
That's what I was implying, but I didn't want to ruin the potential effect by explaining it.
